| 2 Pharaoh said: 'Who is IAUA, that I should hearken to His voice to let Israel go? | 3 They said: 'The God of the Hebrews has met with us. | 5 Pharaoh said: 'Behold, the people of the land are now many, and will you make them rest from their burdens?' | A UIEMR FROA AN-RBIM OThA OM AERTs UAShBThM EThM MSBLThM | ה ויאמר פרעה הן-רבים עתה עם הארץ והשבתם אתם מסבלתם | ||
| 6 The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying: | U UITsU FROA BIUM AAUE ETh-ANGShIM BOM UETh-ShTRIU LEMR | ו ויצו פרעה ביום ההוא את-הנגשים בעם ואת-שטריו לאמר | ||
| 7 'You shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore. Let them go and gather straw for themselves. | Z LE ThESFUN LThTh ThBN LOM LLBN ALBNIM KThMUL ShLShM AM ILKU UQShShU LAM ThBN | ז לא תאספון לתת תבן לעם ללבן הלבנים כתמול שלשם הם ילכו וקששו להם תבן | ||
| 8 The tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, you shall lay on them; you shall not diminish aught thereof; for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying: Let us go and sacrifice to our God. | Ch UETh-MThKNTh ALBNIM EShR AM OShIM ThMUL ShLShM ThShIMU OLIAM LE ThGROU MMNU KI-NRFIM AM OL-KN AM TsOQIM LEMR NLKA NZBChA LELAINU | ח ואת-מתכנת הלבנים אשר הם עשים תמול שלשם תשימו עליהם לא תגרעו ממנו כי-נרפים הם על-כן הם צעקים לאמר נלכה נזבחה לאלהינו | ||
| 9 Let heavier work be laid on the men, that they may labor therein; and let them not regard lying words.' | T ThKBD AOBDA OL-AENShIM UIOShU-BA UEL-IShOU BDBRI-ShQR | ט תכבד העבדה על-האנשים ויעשו-בה ואל-ישעו בדברי-שקר | ||
| 10 The taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying: 'Thus says Pharaoh: I will not give you straw. | I UITsEU NGShI AOM UShTRIU UIEMRU EL-AOM LEMR KA EMR FROA EINNI NThN LKM ThBN | י ויצאו נגשי העם ושטריו ויאמרו אל-העם לאמר כה אמר פרעה אינני נתן לכם תבן | ||
| 11 Go yourselves, get you straw where you can find it; for nothing of your work shall be diminished.' | IE EThM LKU QChU LKM ThBN MEShR ThMTsEU KI EIN NGRO MOBDThKM DBR | יא אתם לכו קחו לכם תבן מאשר תמצאו כי אין נגרע מעבדתכם דבר | ||
| 12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw. | IB UIFTs AOM BKL-ERTs MTsRIM LQShSh QSh LThBN | יב ויפץ העם בכל-ארץ מצרים לקשש קש לתבן | ||
| 13 The taskmasters were urgent, saying: 'Finish your work, your daily task, as when there was straw.' | IG UANGShIM ETsIM LEMR KLU MOShIKM DBR-IUM BIUMU KEShR BAIUTh AThBN | יג והנגשים אצים לאמר כלו מעשיכם דבר-יום ביומו כאשר בהיות התבן | ||
| 14 The officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, saying: 'Wherefore have you not fulfilled your appointed task in making brick both yesterday and today as heretofore?' | ID UIKU ShTRI BNI IShREL EShR-ShMU OLAM NGShI FROA LEMR MDUO LE KLIThM ChQKM LLBN KThMUL ShLShM GM-ThMUL GM-AIUM | יד ויכו שטרי בני ישראל אשר-שמו עלהם נגשי פרעה לאמר מדוע לא כליתם חקכם ללבן כתמול שלשם גם-תמול גם-היום | ||
| 15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying: 'Wherefore deal you thus with your servants? | TU UIBEU ShTRI BNI IShREL UITsOQU EL-FROA LEMR LMA ThOShA KA LOBDIK | טו ויבאו שטרי בני ישראל ויצעקו אל-פרעה לאמר למה תעשה כה לעבדיך | ||
| 16 There is no straw given to your servants, and they say to us: Make brick; and, behold, your servants are beaten, but the fault is in your own people.' | TZ ThBN EIN NThN LOBDIK ULBNIM EMRIM LNU OShU UANA OBDIK MKIM UChTETh OMK | טז תבן אין נתן לעבדיך ולבנים אמרים לנו עשו והנה עבדיך מכים וחטאת עמך | ||
| 17 But he said: 'You are idle, you are idle; therefore you say: Let us go and sacrifice to IAUA. | IZ UIEMR NRFIM EThM NRFIM OL-KN EThM EMRIM NLKA NZBChA LIAUA | יז ויאמר נרפים אתם נרפים על-כן אתם אמרים נלכה נזבחה ליהוה | ||
| 18 Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall you deliver the tale of bricks.' | ICh UOThA LKU OBDU UThBN LE-INThN LKM UThKN LBNIM ThThNU | יח ועתה לכו עבדו ותבן לא-ינתן לכם ותכן לבנים תתנו | ||
| 19 The officers of the children of Israel did see that they were set on mischief, when they said: 'You shall not diminish aught from your bricks, your daily task.' | IT UIREU ShTRI BNI-IShREL EThM BRO LEMR LE-ThGROU MLBNIKM DBR-IUM BIUMU | יט ויראו שטרי בני-ישראל אתם ברע לאמר לא-תגרעו מלבניכם דבר-יום ביומו | ||
| 20 They met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh; | K UIFGOU ETh-MShA UETh-EARN NTsBIM LQREThM BTsEThM METh FROA | כ ויפגעו את-משה ואת-אהרן נצבים לקראתם בצאתם מאת פרעה | ||

| 22 Moses returned to IAUA, and said: 'Lord, wherefore have You dealt ill with this people? why is it that You have sent me? | KB UIShB MShA EL-IAUA UIEMR EDNI LMA AROThA LOM AZA LMA ZA ShLChThNI | כב וישב משה אל-יהוה ויאמר אדני למה הרעתה לעם הזה למה זה שלחתני | ||
| 23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has dealt ill with this people; neither have You delivered Your people at all.' | KG UMEZ BEThI EL-FROA LDBR BShMK ARO LOM AZA UATsL LE-ATsLTh ETh-OMK | כג ומאז באתי אל-פרעה לדבר בשמך הרע לעם הזה והצל לא-הצלת את-עמך | ||
