People Affirm Their Covenant with God | ||||
| 1 To Moses He said: 'Come up to IAUA, you, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship you afar off; | E UEL-MShA EMR OLA EL-IAUA EThA UEARN NDB UEBIAUE UShBOIM MZQNI IShREL UAShThChUIThM MRChQ | א ואל-משה אמר עלה אל-יהוה אתה ואהרן נדב ואביהוא ושבעים מזקני ישראל והשתחויתם מרחק | ||
| 2 and Moses alone shall come near to IAUA; but they shall not come near; neither shall the people go up with him.' | B UNGSh MShA LBDU EL-IAUA UAM LE IGShU UAOM LE IOLU OMU | ב ונגש משה לבדו אל-יהוה והם לא יגשו והעם לא יעלו עמו | ||
| 3 Moses came and told the people all the words of IAUA, and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said: 'All the words which IAUA has spoken will we do.' | G UIBE MShA UISFR LOM ETh KL-DBRI IAUA UETh KL-AMShFTIM UION KL-AOM QUL EChD UIEMRU KL-ADBRIM EShR-DBR IAUA NOShA | ג ויבא משה ויספר לעם את כל-דברי יהוה ואת כל-המשפטים ויען כל-העם קול אחד ויאמרו כל-הדברים אשר-דבר יהוה נעשה | ||
| 4 Moses wrote all the words of IAUA, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the mount, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. | D UIKThB MShA ETh KL-DBRI IAUA UIShKM BBQR UIBN MZBCh ThChTh AAR UShThIM OShRA MTsBA LShNIM OShR ShBTI IShREL | ד ויכתב משה את כל-דברי יהוה וישכם בבקר ויבן מזבח תחת ההר ושתים עשרה מצבה לשנים עשר שבטי ישראל | ||
| 5 He sent the young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt-offerings, and sacrificed peace-offerings of oxen to IAUA. | A UIShLCh ETh-NORI BNI IShREL UIOLU OLTh UIZBChU ZBChIM ShLMIM LIAUA FRIM | ה וישלח את-נערי בני ישראל ויעלו עלת ויזבחו זבחים שלמים ליהוה פרים | ||
| 6 Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; and half of the blood he dashed against the altar. | U UIQCh MShA ChTsI ADM UIShM BEGNTh UChTsI ADM ZRQ OL-AMZBCh | ו ויקח משה חצי הדם וישם באגנת וחצי הדם זרק על-המזבח | ||
| 7 He took the book of the covenant, and read in the hearing of the people; and they said: 'All that IAUA has spoken will we do, and obey.' | Z UIQCh SFR ABRITh UIQRE BEZNI AOM UIEMRU KL EShR-DBR IAUA NOShA UNShMO | ז ויקח ספר הברית ויקרא באזני העם ויאמרו כל אשר-דבר יהוה נעשה ונשמע | ||
| 8 Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said: 'Behold the blood of the covenant, which IAUA has made with you in agreement with all these words.' | Ch UIQCh MShA ETh-ADM UIZRQ OL-AOM UIEMR ANA DM-ABRITh EShR KRTh IAUA OMKM OL KL-ADBRIM AELA | ח ויקח משה את-הדם ויזרק על-העם ויאמר הנה דם-הברית אשר כרת יהוה עמכם על כל-הדברים האלה | ||
| 9 Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; | T UIOL MShA UEARN NDB UEBIAUE UShBOIM MZQNI IShREL | ט ויעל משה ואהרן נדב ואביהוא ושבעים מזקני ישראל | ||
| 10 and they saw the God of Israel; and there was under His feet the like of a paved work of sapphire stone, and the like of the very heaven for clearness. | I UIREU ETh ELAI IShREL UThChTh RGLIU KMOShA LBNTh ASFIR UKOTsM AShMIM LTAR | י ויראו את אלהי ישראל ותחת רגליו כמעשה לבנת הספיר וכעצם השמים לטהר | ||
| 11 On the nobles of the children of Israel He laid not His hand; and they beheld God, and did eat and drink. | IE UEL-ETsILI BNI IShREL LE ShLCh IDU UIChZU ETh-AELAIM UIEKLU UIShThU | יא ואל-אצילי בני ישראל לא שלח ידו ויחזו את-האלהים ויאכלו וישתו | ||
| 12 IAUA said to Moses: 'Come up to Me into the mount and be there; and I will give you the tables of stone, and the law and the commandment, which I have written, that you may teach them.' | IB UIEMR IAUA EL-MShA OLA ELI AARA UAIA-ShM UEThNA LK ETh-LChTh AEBN UAThURA UAMTsUA EShR KThBThI LAURThM | יב ויאמר יהוה אל-משה עלה אלי ההרה והיה-שם ואתנה לך את-לחת האבן והתורה והמצוה אשר כתבתי להורתם | ||
| 13 Moses rose up, and Joshua his minister; and Moses went up into the mount of God. | IG UIQM MShA UIAUShO MShRThU UIOL MShA EL-AR AELAIM | יג ויקם משה ויהושע משרתו ויעל משה אל-הר האלהים | ||
| 14 To the elders he said: 'Tarry you here for us, until we come back to you; and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you; whosoever has a cause, let him come near to them.' | ID UEL-AZQNIM EMR ShBU-LNU BZA OD EShR-NShUB ELIKM UANA EARN UChUR OMKM MI-BOL DBRIM IGSh ELAM | יד ואל-הזקנים אמר שבו-לנו בזה עד אשר-נשוב אליכם והנה אהרן וחור עמכם מי-בעל דברים יגש אלהם | ||
| 15 Moses went up into the mount, and the cloud covered the mount. | TU UIOL MShA EL-AAR UIKS AONN ETh-AAR | טו ויעל משה אל-ההר ויכס הענן את-ההר | ||
| 16 The glory of IAUA abode on mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; and the seventh day He called to Moses out of the middle of the cloud. | TZ UIShKN KBUD-IAUA OL-AR SINI UIKSAU AONN ShShTh IMIM UIQRE EL-MShA BIUM AShBIOI MThUK AONN | טז וישכן כבוד-יהוה על-הר סיני ויכסהו הענן ששת ימים ויקרא אל-משה ביום השביעי מתוך הענן | ||
| 17 The appearance of the glory of IAUA was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel. | IZ UMREA KBUD IAUA KESh EKLTh BRESh AAR LOINI BNI IShREL | יז ומראה כבוד יהוה כאש אכלת בראש ההר לעיני בני ישראל | ||
