1 Now Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel His people, how that IAUA had brought Israel out of Egypt. 2 Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her away, B UIQCh IThRU ChThN MShA ETh-TsFRA EShTh MShA EChR ShLUChIA ב ויקח יתרו חתן משה את-צפרה אשת משה אחר שלוחיה
3 and her two sons; of whom the name of the one was Gershom; for he said: 'I have been a stranger in a strange land'; G UETh ShNI BNIA EShR ShM AEChD GRShM KI EMR GR AIIThI BERTs NKRIA ג ואת שני בניה אשר שם האחד גרשם כי אמר גר הייתי בארץ נכריה

5 Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife to Moses into the wilderness where he was encamped, at the mount of God; A UIBE IThRU ChThN MShA UBNIU UEShThU EL-MShA EL-AMDBR EShR-AUE ChNA ShM AR AELAIM ה ויבא יתרו חתן משה ובניו ואשתו אל-משה אל-המדבר אשר-הוא חנה שם הר האלהים
6 and he said to Moses: 'I your father-in-law Jethro am coming to you, and your wife, and her two sons with her.' U UIEMR EL-MShA ENI ChThNK IThRU BE ELIK UEShThK UShNI BNIA OMA ו ויאמר אל-משה אני חתנך יתרו בא אליך ואשתך ושני בניה עמה
7 Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and bowed down and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare; and they came into the tent. 8 Moses told his father-in-law all that IAUA had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, all the travail that had come on them by the way, and how IAUA delivered them. 9 Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which IAUA had done to Israel, in that He had delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians. T UIChD IThRU OL KL-ATUBA EShR-OShA IAUA LIShREL EShR ATsILU MID MTsRIM ט ויחד יתרו על כל-הטובה אשר-עשה יהוה לישראל אשר הצילו מיד מצרים
10 Jethro said: 'Blessed be IAUA, who has delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh; who has delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians. 11 Now I know that IAUA is greater than all gods; yes, for that they dealt proudly against them.' IE OThA IDOThI KI-GDUL IAUA MKL-AELAIM KI BDBR EShR ZDU OLIAM יא עתה ידעתי כי-גדול יהוה מכל-האלהים כי בדבר אשר זדו עליהם
12 Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took a burnt-offering and sacrifices for God; and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father-in-law before God. 14 When Moses' father-in-law saw all that he did to the people, he said: 'What is this thing that you do to the people? why sit you yourself alone, and all the people stand about you from morning to even?' 15 Moses said to his father-in-law: 'Because the people come to me to inquire of God; TU UIEMR MShA LChThNU KI-IBE ELI AOM LDRSh ELAIM טו ויאמר משה לחתנו כי-יבא אלי העם לדרש אלהים
16 when they have a matter, it comes to me; and I judge between a man and his neighbor, and I make them know the statutes of God, and His laws.' TZ KI-IAIA LAM DBR BE ELI UShFTThI BIN EISh UBIN ROAU UAUDOThI ETh-ChQI AELAIM UETh-ThURThIU טז כי-יהיה להם דבר בא אלי ושפטתי בין איש ובין רעהו והודעתי את-חקי האלהים ואת-תורתיו
17 Moses' father-in-law said to him: 'The thing that you do is not good. IZ UIEMR ChThN MShA ELIU LE-TUB ADBR EShR EThA OShA יז ויאמר חתן משה אליו לא-טוב הדבר אשר אתה עשה
18 You will surely wear away, both you, and this people that is with you; for the thing is too heavy for you; you are not able to perform it yourself alone. ICh NBL ThBL GM-EThA GM-AOM AZA EShR OMK KI-KBD MMK ADBR LE-ThUKL OShAU LBDK יח נבל תבל גם-אתה גם-העם הזה אשר עמך כי-כבד ממך הדבר לא-תוכל עשהו לבדך
19 Hearken now to my voice, I will give you counsel, and God be with you: be you for the people before God, and bring you the causes to God. IT OThA ShMO BQLI EIOTsK UIAI ELAIM OMK AIA EThA LOM MUL AELAIM UABETh EThA ETh-ADBRIM EL-AELAIM יט עתה שמע בקלי איעצך ויהי אלהים עמך היה אתה לעם מול האלהים והבאת אתה את-הדברים אל-האלהים
20 You shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and shall show them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. K UAZARThA EThAM ETh-AChQIM UETh-AThURTh UAUDOTh LAM ETh-ADRK ILKU BA UETh-AMOShA EShR IOShUN כ והזהרתה אתהם את-החקים ואת-התורת והודעת להם את-הדרך ילכו בה ואת-המעשה אשר יעשון
21 Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating unjust gain; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. 22 Let them judge the people at all seasons; and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they shall judge themselves; so shall they make it easier for you and bear the burden with you. 23 If you shall do this thing, and God command you so, then you shall be able to endure, and all this people also shall go to their place in peace.' 25 Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. KA UIBChR MShA ENShI-ChIL MKL-IShREL UIThN EThM REShIM OL-AOM ShRI ELFIM ShRI MEUTh ShRI ChMShIM UShRI OShRTh כה ויבחר משה אנשי-חיל מכל-ישראל ויתן אתם ראשים על-העם שרי אלפים שרי מאות שרי חמשים ושרי עשרת
