David Again Spares Saul | ||||

| 2 Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph. | B UIQM ShEUL UIRD EL-MDBR-ZIF UEThU ShLShTh-ELFIM EISh BChURI IShREL LBQSh ETh-DUD BMDBR-ZIF | ב ויקם שאול וירד אל-מדבר-זיף ואתו שלשת-אלפים איש בחורי ישראל לבקש את-דוד במדבר-זיף | ||
| 3 Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. | 6 Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying: 'Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp?' | 8 Then said Abishai to David: 'God has delivered up your enemy into your hand this day; now therefore let me smite him, I pray you, with the spear to the earth at one stroke, and I will not smite him the second time.' | Ch UIEMR EBIShI EL-DUD SGR ELAIM AIUM ETh-EUIBK BIDK UOThA EKNU NE BChNITh UBERTs FOM EChTh ULE EShNA LU | ח ויאמר אבישי אל-דוד סגר אלהים היום את-אויבך בידך ועתה אכנו נא בחנית ובארץ פעם אחת ולא אשנה לו | ||
| 9 David said to Abishai: 'Destroy him not; for who can put forth his hand against IAUA's anointed, and be guiltless?' | T UIEMR DUD EL-EBIShI EL-ThShChIThAU KI MI ShLCh IDU BMShICh IAUA UNQA | ט ויאמר דוד אל-אבישי אל-תשחיתהו כי מי שלח ידו במשיח יהוה ונקה | ||
| 10 David said: 'As IAUA lives, nay, but IAUA shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle, and be swept away. | I UIEMR DUD ChI-IAUA KI EM-IAUA IGFNU EU-IUMU IBUE UMTh EU BMLChMA IRD UNSFA | י ויאמר דוד חי-יהוה כי אם-יהוה יגפנו או-יומו יבוא ומת או במלחמה ירד ונספה | ||
| 11 IAUA forbid it me, that I should put forth my hand against IAUA's anointed; but now take, I pray you, the spear that is at his head, and the cruse of water and let us go.' | IE ChLILA LI MIAUA MShLCh IDI BMShICh IAUA UOThA QCh-NE ETh-AChNITh EShR MREShThU UETh-TsFChTh AMIM UNLKA-LNU | יא חלילה לי מיהוה משלח ידי במשיח יהוה ועתה קח-נא את-החנית אשר מראשתו ואת-צפחת המים ונלכה-לנו | ||

| 13 Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of the mountain afar off; a great space being between them. | IG UIOBR DUD AOBR UIOMD OL-RESh-AAR MRChQ RB AMQUM BINIAM | יג ויעבר דוד העבר ויעמד על-ראש-ההר מרחק רב המקום ביניהם | ||
| 14 David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying: 'Answer you not, Abner?' Then Abner answered and said: 'Who are you that cry to the king?' | ID UIQRE DUD EL-AOM UEL-EBNR BN-NR LEMR ALUE ThONA EBNR UION EBNR UIEMR MI EThA QRETh EL-AMLK | יד ויקרא דוד אל-העם ואל-אבנר בן-נר לאמר הלוא תענה אבנר ויען אבנר ויאמר מי אתה קראת אל-המלך | ||
| 15 David said to Abner: 'Are not you a valiant man? and who is like to you in Israel? wherefore then have you not kept watch over your lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king your lord. | TU UIEMR DUD EL-EBNR ALUE-EISh EThA UMI KMUK BIShREL ULMA LE ShMRTh EL-EDNIK AMLK KI-BE EChD AOM LAShChITh ETh-AMLK EDNIK | טו ויאמר דוד אל-אבנר הלוא-איש אתה ומי כמוך בישראל ולמה לא שמרת אל-אדניך המלך כי-בא אחד העם להשחית את-המלך אדניך | ||
| 16 This thing is not good that you have done. As IAUA lives, you deserve to die, because you have not kept watch over your lord, IAUA's anointed. | 17 Saul knew David's voice, and said: 'Is this your voice, my son David?' David said: 'It is my voice, my lord, O king.' | IZ UIKR ShEUL ETh-QUL DUD UIEMR AQULK ZA BNI DUD UIEMR DUD QULI EDNI AMLK | יז ויכר שאול את-קול דוד ויאמר הקולך זה בני דוד ויאמר דוד קולי אדני המלך | ||
| 18 He said: 'Wherefore does my lord pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in my hand? | ICh UIEMR LMA ZA EDNI RDF EChRI OBDU KI MA OShIThI UMA-BIDI ROA | יח ויאמר למה זה אדני רדף אחרי עבדו כי מה עשיתי ומה-בידי רעה | ||
| 19 Now therefore, I pray you, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If it be IAUA that has stirred you up against me, let Him accept an offering; but if it be the children of men, cursed be they before IAUA; for they have driven me out this day that I should not cleave to the inheritance of IAUA, saying: Go, serve other gods. | IT UOThA IShMO-NE EDNI AMLK ETh DBRI OBDU EM-IAUA ASIThK BI IRCh MNChA UEM BNI AEDM ERURIM AM LFNI IAUA KI-GRShUNI AIUM MASThFCh BNChLTh IAUA LEMR LK OBD ELAIM EChRIM | יט ועתה ישמע-נא אדני המלך את דברי עבדו אם-יהוה הסיתך בי ירח מנחה ואם בני האדם ארורים הם לפני יהוה כי-גרשוני היום מהסתפח בנחלת יהוה לאמר לך עבד אלהים אחרים | ||
| 20 Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth away from the presence of IAUA; for the king of Israel is come out to seek a single flea, as when one does hunt a partridge in the mountains.' | K UOThA EL-IFL DMI ERTsA MNGD FNI IAUA KI-ITsE MLK IShREL LBQSh ETh-FROSh EChD KEShR IRDF AQRE BARIM | כ ועתה אל-יפל דמי ארצה מנגד פני יהוה כי-יצא מלך ישראל לבקש את-פרעש אחד כאשר ירדף הקרא בהרים | ||
| 21 Then said Saul: 'I have sinned; return, my son David; for I will no more do you harm, because my life was precious in your eyes this day; behold, I have played the fool and erred exceedingly.' | KE UIEMR ShEUL ChTEThI ShUB BNI-DUD KI LE-ERO LK OUD ThChTh EShR IQRA NFShI BOINIK AIUM AZA ANA ASKLThI UEShGA ARBA MED | כא ויאמר שאול חטאתי שוב בני-דוד כי לא-ארע לך עוד תחת אשר יקרה נפשי בעיניך היום הזה הנה הסכלתי ואשגה הרבה מאד | ||
| 22 David answered and said: 'Behold the king's spear! let then one of the young men come over and fetch it. | KB UION DUD UIEMR ANA AChNITh (ChNITh) AMLK UIOBR EChD MANORIM UIQChA | כב ויען דוד ויאמר הנה החנית (חנית) המלך ויעבר אחד מהנערים ויקחה | ||
| 23 IAUA will render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; forasmuch as IAUA delivered you into my hand to-day, and I would not put forth my hand against IAUA's anointed. | KG UIAUA IShIB LEISh ETh-TsDQThU UETh-EMNThU EShR NThNK IAUA AIUM BID ULE EBIThI LShLCh IDI BMShICh IAUA | כג ויהוה ישיב לאיש את-צדקתו ואת-אמנתו אשר נתנך יהוה היום ביד ולא אביתי לשלח ידי במשיח יהוה | ||
| 24 And, behold, as your life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of IAUA, and let Him deliver me out of all tribulation.' | KD UANA KEShR GDLA NFShK AIUM AZA BOINI KN ThGDL NFShI BOINI IAUA UITsLNI MKL-TsRA | כד והנה כאשר גדלה נפשך היום הזה בעיני כן תגדל נפשי בעיני יהוה ויצלני מכל-צרה | ||
| 25 Then Saul said to David: 'Blessed be you, my son David; you shall both do mightily, and shall surely prevail.'
