Israel Oppressed by Midian | ||||
| 1 The children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of IAUA; and IAUA delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years. | E UIOShU BNI-IShREL ARO BOINI IAUA UIThNM IAUA BID-MDIN ShBO ShNIM | א ויעשו בני-ישראל הרע בעיני יהוה ויתנם יהוה ביד-מדין שבע שנים | ||

| 6 Israel was brought very low because of Midian; and the children of Israel cried to IAUA. | U UIDL IShREL MED MFNI MDIN UIZOQU BNI-IShREL EL-IAUA | ו וידל ישראל מאד מפני מדין ויזעקו בני-ישראל אל-יהוה | ||
| 7 It came to pass, when the children of Israel cried to IAUA because of Midian, | Z UIAI KI-ZOQU BNI-IShREL EL-IAUA OL EDUTh MDIN | ז ויהי כי-זעקו בני-ישראל אל-יהוה על אדות מדין | ||
| 8 that IAUA sent a prophet to the children of Israel; and he said to them: 'Thus says IAUA, the God of Israel: I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; | Ch UIShLCh IAUA EISh NBIE EL-BNI IShREL UIEMR LAM KA-EMR IAUA ELAI IShREL ENKI AOLIThI EThKM MMTsRIM UETsIE EThKM MBITh OBDIM | ח וישלח יהוה איש נביא אל-בני ישראל ויאמר להם כה-אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל אנכי העליתי אתכם ממצרים ואציא אתכם מבית עבדים | ||

| 11 The angel of IAUA came, and sat under the terebinth which was in Ophrah, that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite; and his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites. | IE UIBE MLEK IAUA UIShB ThChTh AELA EShR BOFRA EShR LIUESh EBI AOZRI UGDOUN BNU ChBT ChTIM BGTh LANIS MFNI MDIN | יא ויבא מלאך יהוה וישב תחת האלה אשר בעפרה אשר ליואש אבי העזרי וגדעון בנו חבט חטים בגת להניס מפני מדין | ||
| 12 The angel of IAUA appeared to him, and said to him: 'IAUA is with you, you mighty man of valour.' | IB UIRE ELIU MLEK IAUA UIEMR ELIU IAUA OMK GBUR AChIL | יב וירא אליו מלאך יהוה ויאמר אליו יהוה עמך גבור החיל | ||

| 14 IAUA turned towards him, and said: 'Go in this your might, and save Israel from the hand of Midian; have not I sent you?' | ID UIFN ELIU IAUA UIEMR LK BKChK ZA UAUShOTh ETh-IShREL MKF MDIN ALE ShLChThIK | יד ויפן אליו יהוה ויאמר לך בכחך זה והושעת את-ישראל מכף מדין הלא שלחתיך | ||

| 17 He said to him: 'If now I have found favor in your sight, then show me a sign that it is you that talk with me. | IZ UIEMR ELIU EM-NE MTsEThI ChN BOINIK UOShITh LI EUTh ShEThA MDBR OMI | יז ויאמר אליו אם-נא מצאתי חן בעיניך ועשית לי אות שאתה מדבר עמי | ||
| 18 Depart not hence, I pray you, until I come to you, and bring forth my present, and lay it before you.' | 19 Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of meal; the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out to him under the terebinth, and presented it. | IT UGDOUN BE UIOSh GDI-OZIM UEIFTh-QMCh MTsUTh ABShR ShM BSL UAMRQ ShM BFRUR UIUTsE ELIU EL-ThChTh AELA UIGSh | יט וגדעון בא ויעש גדי-עזים ואיפת-קמח מצות הבשר שם בסל והמרק שם בפרור ויוצא אליו אל-תחת האלה ויגש | ||
| 20 The angel of God said to him: 'Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them on this rock, and pour out the broth.' | 23 IAUA said to him: 'Peace be to you; fear not; you shall not die.' | KG UIEMR LU IAUA ShLUM LK EL-ThIRE LE ThMUTh | כג ויאמר לו יהוה שלום לך אל-תירא לא תמות | ||
| 24 Then Gideon built an altar there to IAUA, and called it 'IAUA-shalom'; to this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. | KD UIBN ShM GDOUN MZBCh LIAUA UIQRE-LU IAUA ShLUM OD AIUM AZA OUDNU BOFRTh EBI AOZRI | כד ויבן שם גדעון מזבח ליהוה ויקרא-לו יהוה שלום עד היום הזה עודנו בעפרת אבי העזרי | ||
| 25 It came to pass the same night, that IAUA said to him: 'Take your father's bullock, and the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the Asherah that is by it; | KA UIAI BLILA AAUE UIEMR LU IAUA QCh ETh-FR-AShUR EShR LEBIK UFR AShNI ShBO ShNIM UARSTh ETh-MZBCh ABOL EShR LEBIK UETh-AEShRA EShR-OLIU ThKRTh | כה ויהי בלילה ההוא ויאמר לו יהוה קח את-פר-השור אשר לאביך ופר השני שבע שנים והרסת את-מזבח הבעל אשר לאביך ואת-האשרה אשר-עליו תכרת | ||
| 26 and build an altar to IAUA your God on the top of this stronghold, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt-offering with the wood of the Asherah which you shall cut down.' | KU UBNITh MZBCh LIAUA ELAIK OL RESh AMOUZ AZA BMORKA ULQChTh ETh-AFR AShNI UAOLITh OULA BOTsI AEShRA EShR ThKRTh | כו ובנית מזבח ליהוה אלהיך על ראש המעוז הזה במערכה ולקחת את-הפר השני והעלית עולה בעצי האשרה אשר תכרת | ||

| 29 They said one to another: 'Who has done this thing?'
