Jacob Meets Rachel
1 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the children of the east. E UIShE IOQB RGLIU UILK ERTsA BNI-QDM א וישא יעקב רגליו וילך ארצה בני-קדם
2 He looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, three flocks of sheep lying there by it.--For out of that well they watered the flocks. The stone on the well's mouth was great. B UIRE UANA BER BShDA UANA-ShM ShLShA ODRI-TsEN RBTsIM OLIA KI MN-ABER AAUE IShQU AODRIM UAEBN GDLA OL-FI ABER ב וירא והנה באר בשדה והנה-שם שלשה עדרי-צאן רבצים עליה כי מן-הבאר ההוא ישקו העדרים והאבן גדלה על-פי הבאר
3 Thither were all the flocks gathered; and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone back on the well's mouth in its place.-- G UNESFU-ShMA KL-AODRIM UGLLU ETh-AEBN MOL FI ABER UAShQU ETh-ATsEN UAShIBU ETh-AEBN OL-FI ABER LMQMA ג ונאספו-שמה כל-העדרים וגללו את-האבן מעל פי הבאר והשקו את-הצאן והשיבו את-האבן על-פי הבאר למקמה
4 Jacob said to them: 'My brethren, whence are you?' They said: 'Of Haran are we.' D UIEMR LAM IOQB EChI MEIN EThM UIEMRU MChRN ENChNU ד ויאמר להם יעקב אחי מאין אתם ויאמרו מחרן אנחנו
5 He said to them: 'Know you Laban the son of Nahor?' They said: 'We know him.' A UIEMR LAM AIDOThM ETh-LBN BN-NChUR UIEMRU IDONU ה ויאמר להם הידעתם את-לבן בן-נחור ויאמרו ידענו

8 They said: 'We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and they roll the stone from the well's mouth; then we water the sheep.' 9 While he was yet speaking with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep; for she tended them. T OUDNU MDBR OMM URChL BEA OM-ATsEN EShR LEBIA KI ROA AUE ט עודנו מדבר עמם ורחל באה עם-הצאן אשר לאביה כי רעה הוא
10 It came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother. 13 It came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. He told Laban all these things. 15 Laban said to Jacob: 'Because you are my brother, should you therefore serve me for nothing? tell me, what shall your wages be?' TU UIEMR LBN LIOQB AKI-EChI EThA UOBDThNI ChNM AGIDA LI MA-MShKRThK טו ויאמר לבן ליעקב הכי-אחי אתה ועבדתני חנם הגידה לי מה-משכרתך
16 Now Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. TZ ULLBN ShThI BNUTh ShM AGDLA LEA UShM AQTNA RChL טז וללבן שתי בנות שם הגדלה לאה ושם הקטנה רחל

22 Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast. KB UIESF LBN ETh-KL-ENShI AMQUM UIOSh MShThA כב ויאסף לבן את-כל-אנשי המקום ויעש משתה
23 It came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in to her. KG UIAI BORB UIQCh ETh-LEA BThU UIBE EThA ELIU UIBE ELIA כג ויהי בערב ויקח את-לאה בתו ויבא אתה אליו ויבא אליה

25 It came to pass in the morning that, behold, it was Leah; and he said to Laban: 'What is this you have done to me? did not I serve with you for Rachel? wherefore then have you beguiled me?' 32 Leah conceived, and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben; for she said: 'Because IAUA has looked on my affliction; for now my husband will love me.' 33 She conceived again, and bore a son; and said: 'Because IAUA has heard that I am hated, He has therefore given me this son also.' She called his name Simeon. 34 She conceived again, and bore a son; and said: 'Now this time will my husband be joined to me, because I have borne him three sons.' Therefore was his name called Levi. 35 She conceived again, and bore a son; and she said: 'This time will I praise IAUA.' Therefore she called his name Judah; and she left off bearing. Jacob Meets Rachel
