Abraham's Treachery

3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him: 'Behold, you shall die, because of the woman whom you have taken; for she is a man's wife.' 4 Now Abimelech had not come near her; and he said: 'Lord, will You slay even a righteous nation? D UEBIMLK LE QRB ELIA UIEMR EDNI AGUI GM-TsDIQ ThARG ד ואבימלך לא קרב אליה ויאמר אדני הגוי גם-צדיק תהרג
5 Said he not himself to me: She is my sister? and she, even she herself said: He is my brother. In the simplicity of my heart and the innocence of my hands have I done this.' 6 God said to him in the dream: 'Yes, I know that in the simplicity of your heart you have done this, and I also withheld you from sinning against Me. Therefore suffered I you not to touch her. U UIEMR ELIU AELAIM BChLM GM ENKI IDOThI KI BThM-LBBK OShITh ZETh UEChShK GM-ENKI EUThK MChTU-LI OL-KN LE-NThThIK LNGO ELIA ו ויאמר אליו האלהים בחלם גם אנכי ידעתי כי בתם-לבבך עשית זאת ואחשך גם-אנכי אותך מחטו-לי על-כן לא-נתתיך לנגע אליה
7 Now therefore restore the man's wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for you, and you shall live; and if you restore her not, know you that you shall surely die, you, and all that are your.' 8 Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears; and the men were sore afraid. 9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him: 'What have you done to us? and wherein have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? you have done deeds to me that ought not to be done.' 10 Abimelech said to Abraham: 'What saw you, that you have done this thing?' I UIEMR EBIMLK EL-EBRAM MA REITh KI OShITh ETh-ADBR AZA י ויאמר אבימלך אל-אברהם מה ראית כי עשית את-הדבר הזה
11 Abraham said: 'Because I thought: Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake. IE UIEMR EBRAM KI EMRThI RQ EIN-IRETh ELAIM BMQUM AZA UARGUNI OL-DBR EShThI יא ויאמר אברהם כי אמרתי רק אין-יראת אלהים במקום הזה והרגוני על-דבר אשתי
12 Moreover she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and so she became my wife. IB UGM-EMNA EChThI BTh-EBI AUE EK LE BTh-EMI UThAI-LI LEShA יב וגם-אמנה אחתי בת-אבי הוא אך לא בת-אמי ותהי-לי לאשה
13 It came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said to her: This is your kindness which you shall show to me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me: He is my brother.' 14 Abimelech took sheep and oxen, and men-servants and women-servants, and gave them to Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. ID UIQCh EBIMLK TsEN UBQR UOBDIM UShFChTh UIThN LEBRAM UIShB LU ETh ShRA EShThU יד ויקח אבימלך צאן ובקר ועבדים ושפחת ויתן לאברהם וישב לו את שרה אשתו
15 Abimelech said: 'Behold, my land is before you: dwell where it pleases you.' TU UIEMR EBIMLK ANA ERTsI LFNIK BTUB BOINIK ShB טו ויאמר אבימלך הנה ארצי לפניך בטוב בעיניך שב
16 To Sarah he said: 'Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; behold, it is for you a covering of the eyes to all that are with you; and before all men you are righted.' 17 Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maid-servants; and they bore children. IZ UIThFLL EBRAM EL-AELAIM UIRFE ELAIM ETh-EBIMLK UETh-EShThU UEMAThIU UILDU יז ויתפלל אברהם אל-האלהים וירפא אלהים את-אבימלך ואת-אשתו ואמהתיו וילדו

Abraham's Treachery
