Esther Plans a Banquet | ||||
| 1 Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house; and the king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, over against the entrance of the house. | E UIAI BIUM AShLIShI UThLBSh ESThR MLKUTh UThOMD BChTsR BITh-AMLK AFNIMITh NKCh BITh AMLK UAMLK IUShB OL-KSE MLKUThU BBITh AMLKUTh NKCh FThCh ABITh | א ויהי ביום השלישי ותלבש אסתר מלכות ותעמד בחצר בית-המלך הפנימית נכח בית המלך והמלך יושב על-כסא מלכותו בבית המלכות נכח פתח הבית | ||
| 2 It was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight; and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. | 4 Esther said: 'If it seem good to the king, let the king and Haman come this day to the banquet that I have prepared for him.' | D UThEMR ESThR EM-OL-AMLK TUB IBUE AMLK UAMN AIUM EL-AMShThA EShR-OShIThI LU | ד ותאמר אסתר אם-על-המלך טוב יבוא המלך והמן היום אל-המשתה אשר-עשיתי לו | ||
| 5 Then the king said: 'Cause Haman to make haste, that it may be done as Esther has said.' | 6 The king said to Esther at the banquet of wine: 'Whatever your petition, it shall be granted you; and whatever your request, even to the half of the kingdom, it shall be performed.' | U UIEMR AMLK LESThR BMShThA AIIN MA-ShELThK UINThN LK UMA-BQShThK OD-ChTsI AMLKUTh UThOSh | ו ויאמר המלך לאסתר במשתה היין מה-שאלתך וינתן לך ומה-בקשתך עד-חצי המלכות ותעש | ||
| 7 Then answered Esther, and said: 'My petition and my request is-- | Z UThON ESThR UThEMR ShELThI UBQShThI | ז ותען אסתר ותאמר שאלתי ובקשתי | ||
| 8 if I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request--let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to-morrow as the king has said.' | Ch EM-MTsEThI ChN BOINI AMLK UEM-OL-AMLK TUB LThTh ETh-ShELThI ULOShUTh ETh-BQShThI IBUE AMLK UAMN EL-AMShThA EShR EOShA LAM UMChR EOShA KDBR AMLK | ח אם-מצאתי חן בעיני המלך ואם-על-המלך טוב לתת את-שאלתי ולעשות את-בקשתי יבוא המלך והמן אל-המשתה אשר אעשה להם ומחר אעשה כדבר המלך | ||
| 9 Then went Haman forth that day joyful and glad of heart; but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, Haman was filled with wrath against Mordecai. | T UITsE AMN BIUM AAUE ShMCh UTUB LB UKREUTh AMN ETh-MRDKI BShOR AMLK ULE-QM ULE-ZO MMNU UIMLE AMN OL-MRDKI ChMA | ט ויצא המן ביום ההוא שמח וטוב לב וכראות המן את-מרדכי בשער המלך ולא-קם ולא-זע ממנו וימלא המן על-מרדכי חמה | ||
| 10 Nevertheless Haman refrained himself, and went home; and he sent and fetched his friends and Zeresh his wife. | I UIThEFQ AMN UIBUE EL-BIThU UIShLCh UIBE ETh-EABIU UETh-ZRSh EShThU | י ויתאפק המן ויבוא אל-ביתו וישלח ויבא את-אהביו ואת-זרש אשתו | ||
| 11 Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and everything as to how the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king. | IE UISFR LAM AMN ETh-KBUD OShRU URB BNIU UETh KL-EShR GDLU AMLK UETh EShR NShEU OL-AShRIM UOBDI AMLK | יא ויספר להם המן את-כבוד עשרו ורב בניו ואת כל-אשר גדלו המלך ואת אשר נשאו על-השרים ועבדי המלך | ||
| 12 Haman said moreover: 'Yes, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king to the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to-morrow also am I invited by her together with the king. | IB UIEMR AMN EF LE-ABIEA ESThR AMLKA OM-AMLK EL-AMShThA EShR-OShThA KI EM-EUThI UGM-LMChR ENI QRUE-LA OM-AMLK | יב ויאמר המן אף לא-הביאה אסתר המלכה עם-המלך אל-המשתה אשר-עשתה כי אם-אותי וגם-למחר אני קרוא-לה עם-המלך | ||

| 14 Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends to him: 'Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak you to the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon; then go you in merrily with the king to the banquet.'
