Law of Divorce
1 When a man takes a wife, and marries her, then it comes to pass, if she find no favor in his eyes, because he has found some unseemly thing in her, that he writes her a bill of divorcement, and gives it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, E KI-IQCh EISh EShA UBOLA UAIA EM-LE ThMTsE-ChN BOINIU KI-MTsE BA ORUTh DBR UKThB LA SFR KRIThTh UNThN BIDA UShLChA MBIThU א כי-יקח איש אשה ובעלה והיה אם-לא תמצא-חן בעיניו כי-מצא בה ערות דבר וכתב לה ספר כריתת ונתן בידה ושלחה מביתו
2 and she departs out of his house, and goes and becomes another man's wife, B UITsEA MBIThU UALKA UAIThA LEISh-EChR ב ויצאה מביתו והלכה והיתה לאיש-אחר
3 and the latter husband hates her, and writes her a bill of divorcement, and gives it in her hand, and sends her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, who took her to be his wife; G UShNEA AEISh AEChRUN UKThB LA SFR KRIThTh UNThN BIDA UShLChA MBIThU EU KI IMUTh AEISh AEChRUN EShR-LQChA LU LEShA ג ושנאה האיש האחרון וכתב לה ספר כריתת ונתן בידה ושלחה מביתו או כי ימות האיש האחרון אשר-לקחה לו לאשה
4 her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before IAUA; and you shall not cause the land to sin, which IAUA your God gives you for an inheritance. 5 When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out in the host, neither shall he be charged with any business; he shall be free for his house one year, and shall cheer his wife whom he has taken. 6 No man shall take the mill or the upper millstone to pledge; for he takes a man's life to pledge. U LE-IChBL RChIM URKB KI-NFSh AUE ChBL ו לא-יחבל רחים ורכב כי-נפש הוא חבל
7 If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and he deal with him as a slave, and sell him; then that thief shall die; so shall you put away the evil from the middle of you. 8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that you observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you, as I commanded them, so you shall observe to do. 9 Remember what IAUA your God did to Miriam, by the way as you came forth out of Egypt. T ZKUR ETh EShR-OShA IAUA ELAIK LMRIM BDRK BTsEThKM MMTsRIM ט זכור את אשר-עשה יהוה אלהיך למרים בדרך בצאתכם ממצרים
10 When you dost lend your neighbor any manner of loan, you shall not go into his house to fetch his pledge. I KI-ThShA BROK MShETh MEUMA LE-ThBE EL-BIThU LOBT OBTU י כי-תשה ברעך משאת מאומה לא-תבא אל-ביתו לעבט עבטו
11 You shall stand without, and the man to whom you dost lend shall bring forth the pledge without to you. IE BChUTs ThOMD UAEISh EShR EThA NShA BU IUTsIE ELIK ETh-AOBUT AChUTsA יא בחוץ תעמד והאיש אשר אתה נשה בו יוציא אליך את-העבוט החוצה
12 If he be a poor man, you shall not sleep with his pledge; IB UEM-EISh ONI AUE LE ThShKB BOBTU יב ואם-איש עני הוא לא תשכב בעבטו
13 you shall surely restore to him the pledge when the sun goes down, that he may sleep in his garment, and bless you; and it shall be righteousness to you before IAUA your God. IG AShB ThShIB LU ETh-AOBUT KBUE AShMSh UShKB BShLMThU UBRKK ULK ThAIA TsDQA LFNI IAUA ELAIK יג השב תשיב לו את-העבוט כבוא השמש ושכב בשלמתו וברכך ולך תהיה צדקה לפני יהוה אלהיך
14 You shall not oppress a hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of your brethren, or of your strangers that are in your land within your gates. ID LE-ThOShQ ShKIR ONI UEBIUN MEChIK EU MGRK EShR BERTsK BShORIK יד לא-תעשק שכיר עני ואביון מאחיך או מגרך אשר בארצך בשעריך
15 In the same day you shall give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down on it; for he is poor, and sets his heart on it: unless he cry against you to IAUA and it be sin in you. TU BIUMU ThThN ShKRU ULE-ThBUE OLIU AShMSh KI ONI AUE UELIU AUE NShE ETh-NFShU ULE-IQRE OLIK EL-IAUA UAIA BK ChTE טו ביומו תתן שכרו ולא-תבוא עליו השמש כי עני הוא ואליו הוא נשא את-נפשו ולא-יקרא עליך אל-יהוה והיה בך חטא
16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers; every man shall be put to death for his own sin. 17 You shall not pervert the justice due to the stranger, or to the fatherless; nor take the widow's raiment to pledge. IZ LE ThTA MShFT GR IThUM ULE ThChBL BGD ELMNA יז לא תטה משפט גר יתום ולא תחבל בגד אלמנה
18 But you shall remember that you were a bondman in Egypt, and IAUA your God redeemed you there; therefore I command you to do this thing. ICh UZKRTh KI OBD AIITh BMTsRIM UIFDK IAUA ELAIK MShM OL-KN ENKI MTsUK LOShUTh ETh-ADBR AZA יח וזכרת כי עבד היית במצרים ויפדך יהוה אלהיך משם על-כן אנכי מצוך לעשות את-הדבר הזה
19 When you reap your harvest in your field, and have forgot a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to fetch it; it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow; that IAUA your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. 21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it after you; it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. KE KI ThBTsR KRMK LE ThOULL EChRIK LGR LIThUM ULELMNA IAIA כא כי תבצר כרמך לא תעולל אחריך לגר ליתום ולאלמנה יהיה
