The Sabbatic Year
1 At the end of every seven years you shall make a release. E MQTs ShBO-ShNIM ThOShA ShMTA א מקץ שבע-שנים תעשה שמטה
2 This is the manner of the release: every creditor shall release that which he has lent to his neighbor; he shall not exact it of his neighbor and his brother; because IAUA's release has been proclaimed. 3 Of a foreigner you may exact it; but whatsoever of your is with your brother your hand shall release. G ETh-ANKRI ThGSh UEShR IAIA LK ETh-EChIK ThShMT IDK ג את-הנכרי תגש ואשר יהיה לך את-אחיך תשמט ידך
4 Howbeit there shall be no needy among you--for IAUA will surely bless you in the land which IAUA your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it-- D EFS KI LE IAIA-BK EBIUN KI-BRK IBRKK IAUA BERTs EShR IAUA ELAIK NThN-LK NChLA LRShThA ד אפס כי לא יהיה-בך אביון כי-ברך יברכך יהוה בארץ אשר יהוה אלהיך נתן-לך נחלה לרשתה
5 if only you diligently hearken to the voice of IAUA your God, to observe to do all this commandment which I command you this day. 6 For IAUA your God will bless you, as He promised you; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you. 7 If there be among you a needy man, one of your brethren, within any of your gates, in your land which IAUA your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your needy brother; Z KI-IAIA BK EBIUN MEChD EChIK BEChD ShORIK BERTsK EShR-IAUA ELAIK NThN LK LE ThEMTs ETh-LBBK ULE ThQFTs ETh-IDK MEChIK AEBIUN ז כי-יהיה בך אביון מאחד אחיך באחד שעריך בארצך אשר-יהוה אלהיך נתן לך לא תאמץ את-לבבך ולא תקפץ את-ידך מאחיך האביון

9 Beware that there be not a base thought in your heart, saying: 'The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand'; and your eye be evil against your needy brother, and you give him nothing; and he cry to IAUA against you, and it be sin in you. 10 You shall surely give him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him; because that for this thing IAUA your God will bless you in all your work, and in all that you put your hand to. 11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land; therefore I command you, saying: 'You shall surely open your hand to your poor and needy brother, in your land.' 12 If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, be sold to you, he shall serve you six years; and in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you. 13 When you let him go free from you, you shall not let him go empty; IG UKI-ThShLChNU ChFShI MOMK LE ThShLChNU RIQM יג וכי-תשלחנו חפשי מעמך לא תשלחנו ריקם
14 you shall furnish him liberally out of your flock, and out of your threshing-floor, and out of your winepress; of that wherewith IAUA your God has blessed you you shall give to him. ID AONIQ ThONIQ LU MTsENK UMGRNK UMIQBK EShR BRKK IAUA ELAIK ThThN-LU יד העניק תעניק לו מצאנך ומגרנך ומיקבך אשר ברכך יהוה אלהיך תתן-לו
15 You shall remember that you were a bondman in the land of Egypt, and IAUA your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this thing to-day. TU UZKRTh KI OBD AIITh BERTs MTsRIM UIFDK IAUA ELAIK OL-KN ENKI MTsUK ETh-ADBR AZA AIUM טו וזכרת כי עבד היית בארץ מצרים ויפדך יהוה אלהיך על-כן אנכי מצוך את-הדבר הזה היום
16 It shall be, if he say to you: 'I will not go out from you'; because he loves you and your house, because he fares well with you; TZ UAIA KI-IEMR ELIK LE ETsE MOMK KI EABK UETh-BIThK KI-TUB LU OMK טז והיה כי-יאמר אליך לא אצא מעמך כי אהבך ואת-ביתך כי-טוב לו עמך
17 then you shall take an awl, and thrust it through his ear and into the door, and he shall be your bondman for ever. Also to your bondwoman you shall do likewise. 18 It shall not seem hard to you, when you let him go free from you; for to the double of the hire of a hireling has he served you six years; and IAUA your God will bless you in all that you do. 19 All the firstling males that are born of your herd and of your flock you shall sanctify to IAUA your God; you shall do no work with the firstling of your ox, nor shear the firstling of your flock. 20 You shall eat it before IAUA your God year by year in the place which IAUA shall choose, you and your household. K LFNI IAUA ELAIK ThEKLNU ShNA BShNA BMQUM EShR-IBChR IAUA EThA UBIThK כ לפני יהוה אלהיך תאכלנו שנה בשנה במקום אשר-יבחר יהוה אתה וביתך
21 If there be any blemish therein, lameness, or blindness, any ill blemish whatsoever, you shall not sacrifice it to IAUA your God. KE UKI-IAIA BU MUM FSCh EU OUR KL MUM RO LE ThZBChNU LIAUA ELAIK כא וכי-יהיה בו מום פסח או עור כל מום רע לא תזבחנו ליהוה אלהיך
22 You shall eat it within your gates; the unclean and the clean may eat it alike, as the gazelle, and as the hart. KB BShORIK ThEKLNU ATME UATAUR IChDU KTsBI UKEIL כב בשעריך תאכלנו הטמא והטהור יחדו כצבי וכאיל
23 Only you shall not eat the blood thereof; you shall pour it out on the ground as water. KG RQ ETh-DMU LE ThEKL OL-AERTs ThShFKNU KMIM כג רק את-דמו לא תאכל על-הארץ תשפכנו כמים
