Peril in Moving the Ark
1 David again gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. E UISF OUD DUD ETh-KL-BChUR BIShREL ShLShIM ELF א ויסף עוד דוד את-כל-בחור בישראל שלשים אלף
2 David arose, and went with all the people that were with him, from Baale-judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, whereon is called the Name, even the name of IAUA of hosts that sits on the cherubim. 3 They set the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart. 4 They brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was in the hill, with the ark of God, and Ahio went before the ark. D UIShEAU MBITh EBINDB EShR BGBOA OM ERUN AELAIM UEChIU ALK LFNI AERUN ד וישאהו מבית אבינדב אשר בגבעה עם ארון האלהים ואחיו הלך לפני הארון
5 David and all the house of Israel played before IAUA with all manner of instruments made of cypress-wood, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with tambourines, and with sistra, and with cymbals. 9 David was afraid of IAUA that day; and he said: 'How shall the ark of IAUA come to me?' T UIRE DUD ETh-IAUA BIUM AAUE UIEMR EIK IBUE ELI ERUN IAUA ט וירא דוד את-יהוה ביום ההוא ויאמר איך יבוא אלי ארון יהוה
10 So David would not remove the ark of IAUA to him into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. I ULE-EBA DUD LASIR ELIU ETh-ERUN IAUA OL-OIR DUD UITAU DUD BITh OBD-EDM AGThI י ולא-אבה דוד להסיר אליו את-ארון יהוה על-עיר דוד ויטהו דוד בית עבד-אדם הגתי
11 The ark of IAUA remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months; and IAUA blessed Obed-edom, and all his house. IE UIShB ERUN IAUA BITh OBD EDM AGThI ShLShA ChDShIM UIBRK IAUA ETh-OBD EDM UETh-KL-BIThU יא וישב ארון יהוה בית עבד אדם הגתי שלשה חדשים ויברך יהוה את-עבד אדם ואת-כל-ביתו
12 It was told king David, saying: 'IAUA has blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that pertains to him, because of the ark of God.' David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with joy. 16 It was so, as the ark of IAUA came into the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before IAUA; and she despised him in her heart. 17 They brought in the ark of IAUA, and set it in its place, in the middle of the tent that David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before IAUA. 18 When David had made an end of offering the burnt-offering and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of IAUA of hosts. ICh UIKL DUD MAOLUTh AOULA UAShLMIM UIBRK ETh-AOM BShM IAUA TsBEUTh יח ויכל דוד מהעלות העולה והשלמים ויברך את-העם בשם יהוה צבאות
19 He dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, both to men and women, to every one a cake of bread, and a cake made in a pan, and a sweet cake. So all the people departed every one to his house. 20 Then David returned to bless his household. Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said: 'How did the king of Israel get him honour to-day, who uncovered himself to-day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!' 21 David said to Michal: 'Before IAUA, who chose me above your father, and above all his house, to appoint me prince over the people of IAUA, over Israel, before IAUA will I make merry.
