David King over All Israel

2 In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you that didst lead out and bring in Israel; and IAUA said to you: You shall feed My people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.' 3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before IAUA; and they anointed David king over Israel. 5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah. 6 The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying: 'Except you take away the blind and the lame, you shall not come in hither'; thinking: 'David cannot come in hither.' 8 David said on that day: 'Whosoever smites the Jebusites, and gets up to the gutter, and [takes away] the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul--.' Wherefore they say: 'There are the blind and the lame; he cannot come into the house.' 9 David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. David built round about from Millo and inward. T UIShB DUD BMTsDA UIQRE-LA OIR DUD UIBN DUD SBIB MN-AMLUE UBIThA ט וישב דוד במצדה ויקרא-לה עיר דוד ויבן דוד סביב מן-המלוא וביתה
10 David waxed greater and greater; for IAUA, the God of hosts, was with him. I UILK DUD ALUK UGDUL UIAUA ELAI TsBEUTh OMU י וילך דוד הלוך וגדול ויהוה אלהי צבאות עמו
11 Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house. 12 David perceived that IAUA had established him king over Israel, and that He had exalted his kingdom for His people Israel's sake. IB UIDO DUD KI-AKINU IAUA LMLK OL-IShREL UKI NShE MMLKThU BOBUR OMU IShREL יב וידע דוד כי-הכינו יהוה למלך על-ישראל וכי נשא ממלכתו בעבור עמו ישראל
13 David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David. 14 These are the names of those that were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon; ID UELA ShMUTh AILDIM LU BIRUShLM ShMUO UShUBB UNThN UShLMA יד ואלה שמות הילדים לו בירושלם שמוע ושובב ונתן ושלמה
15 and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia; TU UIBChR UELIShUO UNFG UIFIO טו ויבחר ואלישוע ונפג ויפיע
16 and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet. TZ UELIShMO UELIDO UELIFLT טז ואלישמע ואלידע ואליפלט
17 When the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold. IZ UIShMOU FLShThIM KI-MShChU ETh-DUD LMLK OL-IShREL UIOLU KL-FLShThIM LBQSh ETh-DUD UIShMO DUD UIRD EL-AMTsUDA יז וישמעו פלשתים כי-משחו את-דוד למלך על-ישראל ויעלו כל-פלשתים לבקש את-דוד וישמע דוד וירד אל-המצודה
18 Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. ICh UFLShThIM BEU UINTShU BOMQ RFEIM יח ופלשתים באו וינטשו בעמק רפאים
19 David inquired of IAUA, saying: 'Shall I go up against the Philistines? will You deliver them into my hand?' IAUA said to David: 'Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into your hand.' IT UIShEL DUD BIAUA LEMR AEOLA EL-FLShThIM AThThNM BIDI UIEMR IAUA EL-DUD OLA KI-NThN EThN ETh-AFLShThIM BIDK יט וישאל דוד ביהוה לאמר האעלה אל-פלשתים התתנם בידי ויאמר יהוה אל-דוד עלה כי-נתן אתן את-הפלשתים בידך
20 David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there; and he said: 'IAUA has broken mine enemies before me, like the breach of waters.' Therefore the name of that place was called Baal-perazim. 21 They left their images there, and David and his men took them away. KE UIOZBU-ShM ETh-OTsBIAM UIShEM DUD UENShIU כא ויעזבו-שם את-עצביהם וישאם דוד ואנשיו
22 The Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. KB UISFU OUD FLShThIM LOLUTh UINTShU BOMQ RFEIM כב ויספו עוד פלשתים לעלות וינטשו בעמק רפאים
23 When David inquired of IAUA, He said: 'You shall not go up; make a circuit behind them, and come on them over against the mulberry-trees. KG UIShEL DUD BIAUA UIEMR LE ThOLA ASB EL-EChRIAM UBETh LAM MMUL BKEIM כג וישאל דוד ביהוה ויאמר לא תעלה הסב אל-אחריהם ובאת להם ממול בכאים
24 It shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then you shall bestir yourself; for then is IAUA gone out before you to smite the host of the Philistines.'
