| 4 He said to him: 'Why, O son of the king, are you thus becoming leaner from day to day? will you not tell me?' | 8 So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was lying down. | 9 She took the pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. Amnon said: 'Have out all men from me.' | 10 Amnon said to Tamar: 'Bring the food into the chamber, that I may eat of your hand.' | 11 When she had brought them near to him to eat, he took hold of her, and said to her: 'Come lie with me, my sister.' | IE UThGSh ELIU LEKL UIChZQ-BA UIEMR LA BUEI ShKBI OMI EChUThI | יא ותגש אליו לאכל ויחזק-בה ויאמר לה בואי שכבי עמי אחותי | ||
| 12 She answered him: 'Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel; do not you this wanton deed. | IB UThEMR LU EL-EChI EL-ThONNI KI LE-IOShA KN BIShREL EL-ThOShA ETh-ANBLA AZETh | יב ותאמר לו אל-אחי אל-תענני כי לא-יעשה כן בישראל אל-תעשה את-הנבלה הזאת | ||
| 13 I, whither shall I carry my shame? and as for you, you will be as one of the base men in Israel. | 14 Howbeit he would not hearken to her voice; but being stronger than she, he forced her, and lay with her. | ID ULE EBA LShMO BQULA UIChZQ MMNA UIONA UIShKB EThA | יד ולא אבה לשמע בקולה ויחזק ממנה ויענה וישכב אתה | ||
| 15 Then Amnon hated her with exceeding great hatred; for the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. | 16 She said to him: 'Not so, because this great wrong in putting me forth is worse than the other that you didst to me.' | 18 Now she had a garment of many colours on her; for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled.--His servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her. | ICh UOLIA KThNTh FSIM KI KN ThLBShN BNUTh-AMLK ABThULTh MOILIM UITsE EUThA MShRThU AChUTs UNOL ADLTh EChRIA | יח ועליה כתנת פסים כי כן תלבשן בנות-המלך הבתולת מעילים ויצא אותה משרתו החוץ ונעל הדלת אחריה | ||

| 20 Absalom her brother said to her: 'Has Amnon your brother been with you? but now hold your peace, my sister: he is your brother; take not this thing to heart.' | 22 Absalom spoke to Amnon neither good nor bad; for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar. | KB ULE-DBR EBShLUM OM-EMNUN LMRO UOD-TUB KI-ShNE EBShLUM ETh-EMNUN OL-DBR EShR ONA ETh ThMR EChThU | כב ולא-דבר אבשלום עם-אמנון למרע ועד-טוב כי-שנא אבשלום את-אמנון על-דבר אשר ענה את תמר אחתו | ||
| 23 It came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheep-shearers in Baal-hazor, which is beside Ephraim; and Absalom invited all the king's sons. | KG UIAI LShNThIM IMIM UIAIU GZZIM LEBShLUM BBOL ChTsUR EShR OM-EFRIM UIQRE EBShLUM LKL-BNI AMLK | כג ויהי לשנתים ימים ויהיו גזזים לאבשלום בבעל חצור אשר עם-אפרים ויקרא אבשלום לכל-בני המלך | ||

| 25 The king said to Absalom: 'Nay, my son, let us not all go, unless we be burdensome to you.' | 29 The servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. | 34 But Absalom fled.
