All Israel Invited to the Passover
1 Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of IAUA at Jerusalem, to keep the passover to IAUA, the God of Israel. 2 For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the passover in the second month. B UIUOTs AMLK UShRIU UKL-AQAL BIRUShLM LOShUTh AFSCh BChDSh AShNI ב ויועץ המלך ושריו וכל-הקהל בירושלם לעשות הפסח בחדש השני
3 For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient number, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem. 4 The thing was right in the eyes of the king and of all the congregation. D UIIShR ADBR BOINI AMLK UBOINI KL-AQAL ד ויישר הדבר בעיני המלך ובעיני כל-הקהל
5 So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beer-sheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the passover to IAUA, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem; for they had not kept it in great numbers according as it is written. 6 So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying: 'You children of Israel, turn back to IAUA, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that He may return to the remnant that are escaped of you out of the hand of the kings of Assyria. 7 Be not you like your fathers, and like your brethren, who acted treacherously against IAUA, the God of their fathers, so that He delivered them to be an astonishment, as you see. 8 Now be you not stiffnecked, as your fathers were; but yield yourselves to IAUA, and enter into His sanctuary, which He has sanctified for ever, and serve IAUA your God, that His fierce anger may turn away from you. 9 For if you turn back to IAUA, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that led them captive, and shall come back into this land; for IAUA your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away His face from you, if you return to Him.' T KI BShUBKM OL-IAUA EChIKM UBNIKM LRChMIM LFNI ShUBIAM ULShUB LERTs AZETh KI-ChNUN URChUM IAUA ELAIKM ULE-ISIR FNIM MKM EM-ThShUBU ELIU ט כי בשובכם על-יהוה אחיכם ובניכם לרחמים לפני שוביהם ולשוב לארץ הזאת כי-חנון ורחום יהוה אלהיכם ולא-יסיר פנים מכם אם-תשובו אליו
10 So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, even to Zebulun; but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them. 11 Nevertheless divers of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem. IE EK-ENShIM MEShR UMNShA UMZBLUN NKNOU UIBEU LIRUShLM יא אך-אנשים מאשר ומנשה ומזבלון נכנעו ויבאו לירושלם
12 Also in Judah was the hand of God to give them one heart, to do the commandment of the king and of the princes by the word of IAUA. IB GM BIAUDA AIThA ID AELAIM LThTh LAM LB EChD LOShUTh MTsUTh AMLK UAShRIM BDBR IAUA יב גם ביהודה היתה יד האלהים לתת להם לב אחד לעשות מצות המלך והשרים בדבר יהוה
13 There assembled at Jerusalem much people to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great congregation. IG UIESFU IRUShLM OM-RB LOShUTh ETh-ChG AMTsUTh BChDSh AShNI QAL LRB MED יג ויאספו ירושלם עם-רב לעשות את-חג המצות בחדש השני קהל לרב מאד
14 They arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron. ID UIQMU UISIRU ETh-AMZBChUTh EShR BIRUShLM UETh KL-AMQTRUTh ASIRU UIShLIKU LNChL QDRUN יד ויקמו ויסירו את-המזבחות אשר בירושלם ואת כל-המקטרות הסירו וישליכו לנחל קדרון
15 Then they killed the passover lamb on the fourteenth day of the second month; and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought burnt-offerings into the house of IAUA. 16 They stood in their place after their order, according to the law of Moses the man of God; the priests dashed the blood, which they received of the hand of the Levites. 17 For there were many in the congregation that had not sanctified themselves; therefore the Levites had the charge of killing the passover lambs for every one that was not clean, to sanctify them to IAUA. IZ KI-RBTh BQAL EShR LE-AThQDShU UALUIM OL-ShChITTh AFSChIM LKL LE TAUR LAQDISh LIAUA יז כי-רבת בקהל אשר לא-התקדשו והלוים על-שחיטת הפסחים לכל לא טהור להקדיש ליהוה
18 For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim and Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it is written. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying: 'The good IAUA pardon ICh KI MRBITh AOM RBTh MEFRIM UMNShA IShShKR UZBLUN LE ATARU KI-EKLU ETh-AFSCh BLE KKThUB KI AThFLL IChZQIAU OLIAM LEMR IAUA ATUB IKFR BOD יח כי מרבית העם רבת מאפרים ומנשה יששכר וזבלון לא הטהרו כי-אכלו את-הפסח בלא ככתוב כי התפלל יחזקיהו עליהם לאמר יהוה הטוב יכפר בעד
19 every one that sets his heart to seek God, IAUA, the God of his fathers, though [he be] not [cleansed] according to the purification that pertains to holy things.' IT KL-LBBU AKIN LDRUSh AELAIM IAUA ELAI EBUThIU ULE KTARTh AQDSh יט כל-לבבו הכין לדרוש האלהים יהוה אלהי אבותיו ולא כטהרת הקדש
20 IAUA hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people. K UIShMO IAUA EL-IChZQIAU UIRFE ETh-AOM כ וישמע יהוה אל-יחזקיהו וירפא את-העם
21 The children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness; and the Levites and the priests praised IAUA day by day, singing with loud instruments to IAUA. KE UIOShU BNI-IShREL ANMTsEIM BIRUShLM ETh-ChG AMTsUTh ShBOTh IMIM BShMChA GDULA UMALLIM LIAUA IUM BIUM ALUIM UAKANIM BKLI-OZ LIAUA כא ויעשו בני-ישראל הנמצאים בירושלם את-חג המצות שבעת ימים בשמחה גדולה ומהללים ליהוה יום ביום הלוים והכהנים בכלי-עז ליהוה
22 Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites that were well skilled in the service of IAUA. So they did eat throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace-offerings, and giving thanks to IAUA, the God of their fathers. 23 The whole congregation took counsel to keep other seven days; and they kept other seven days with gladness. KG UIUOTsU KL-AQAL LOShUTh ShBOTh IMIM EChRIM UIOShU ShBOTh-IMIM ShMChA כג ויועצו כל-הקהל לעשות שבעת ימים אחרים ויעשו שבעת-ימים שמחה
24 For Hezekiah king of Judah did give to the congregation for offerings a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep; and priests sanctified themselves in great numbers. 25 All the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced. 27 Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people. Their voice was heard and their prayer came up to His holy habitation, even to heaven. 24 For Hezekiah king of Judah did give to the congregation for offerings a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep; and priests sanctified themselves in great numbers. 25 All the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced. 27 Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people. Their voice was heard and their prayer came up to His holy habitation, even to heaven.
