Ahijah Prophesies against the King | ||||
| 1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick. | E BOTh AAIE ChLA EBIA BN-IRBOM | א בעת ההיא חלה אביה בן-ירבעם | ||
| 2 Jeroboam said to his wife: 'Arise, I pray you, and disguise yourself, that you be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get you to Shiloh; behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, who spoke concerning me that I should be king over this people. | B UIEMR IRBOM LEShThU QUMI NE UAShThNITh ULE IDOU KI-EThI (ETh) EShTh IRBOM UALKTh ShLA ANA-ShM EChIA ANBIE AUE-DBR OLI LMLK OL-AOM AZA | ב ויאמר ירבעם לאשתו קומי נא והשתנית ולא ידעו כי-אתי (את) אשת ירבעם והלכת שלה הנה-שם אחיה הנביא הוא-דבר עלי למלך על-העם הזה | ||
| 3 Take with you ten loaves, and biscuits, and a cruse of honey, and go to him; he will tell you what shall become of the child.' | G ULQChTh BIDK OShRA LChM UNQDIM UBQBQ DBSh UBETh ELIU AUE IGID LK MA-IAIA LNOR | ג ולקחת בידך עשרה לחם ונקדים ובקבק דבש ובאת אליו הוא יגיד לך מה-יהיה לנער | ||
| 4 Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age. | D UThOSh KN EShTh IRBOM UThQM UThLK ShLA UThBE BITh EChIA UEChIAU LE-IKL LREUTh KI QMU OINIU MShIBU | ד ותעש כן אשת ירבעם ותקם ותלך שלה ותבא בית אחיה ואחיהו לא-יכל לראות כי קמו עיניו משיבו | ||
| 5 Now IAUA had said to Ahijah: 'Behold, the wife of Jeroboam comes to inquire of you concerning her son; for he is sick; thus and thus shall you say to her; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will feign herself to be another woman.' | A UIAUA EMR EL-EChIAU ANA EShTh IRBOM BEA LDRSh DBR MOMK EL-BNA KI-ChLA AUE KZA UKZA ThDBR ELIA UIAI KBEA UAIE MThNKRA | ה ויהוה אמר אל-אחיהו הנה אשת ירבעם באה לדרש דבר מעמך אל-בנה כי-חלה הוא כזה וכזה תדבר אליה ויהי כבאה והיא מתנכרה | ||
| 6 It was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said: 'Come in, you wife of Jeroboam; why pretend you yourself to be another? for I am sent to you with heavy tidings. | U UIAI KShMO EChIAU ETh-QUL RGLIA BEA BFThCh UIEMR BEI EShTh IRBOM LMA ZA ETh MThNKRA UENKI ShLUCh ELIK QShA | ו ויהי כשמע אחיהו את-קול רגליה באה בפתח ויאמר באי אשת ירבעם למה זה את מתנכרה ואנכי שלוח אליך קשה | ||
| 7 Go, tell Jeroboam: Thus says IAUA, the God of Israel: Forasmuch as I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over My people Israel, | Z LKI EMRI LIRBOM KA-EMR IAUA ELAI IShREL ION EShR ARMThIK MThUK AOM UEThNK NGID OL OMI IShREL | ז לכי אמרי לירבעם כה-אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל יען אשר הרמתיך מתוך העם ואתנך נגיד על עמי ישראל | ||
| 8 and rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it you; and yet you have not been as My servant David, who kept My commandments, and who followed Me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in Mine eyes; | Ch UEQRO ETh-AMMLKA MBITh DUD UEThNA LK ULE-AIITh KOBDI DUD EShR ShMR MTsUThI UEShR-ALK EChRI BKL-LBBU LOShUTh RQ AIShR BOINI | ח ואקרע את-הממלכה מבית דוד ואתנה לך ולא-היית כעבדי דוד אשר שמר מצותי ואשר-הלך אחרי בכל-לבבו לעשות רק הישר בעיני | ||
| 9 but have done evil above all that were before you, and have gone and made you other gods, and molten images, to provoke Me, and have cast Me behind your back; | T UThRO LOShUTh MKL EShR-AIU LFNIK UThLK UThOShA-LK ELAIM EChRIM UMSKUTh LAKOISNI UEThI AShLKTh EChRI GUK | ט ותרע לעשות מכל אשר-היו לפניך ותלך ותעשה-לך אלהים אחרים ומסכות להכעיסני ואתי השלכת אחרי גוך | ||
| 10 therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam every man-child, and him that is shut up and him that is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung, till it be all gone. | I LKN ANNI MBIE ROA EL-BITh IRBOM UAKRThI LIRBOM MShThIN BQIR OTsUR UOZUB BIShREL UBORThI EChRI BITh-IRBOM KEShR IBOR AGLL OD-ThMU | י לכן הנני מביא רעה אל-בית ירבעם והכרתי לירבעם משתין בקיר עצור ועזוב בישראל ובערתי אחרי בית-ירבעם כאשר יבער הגלל עד-תמו | ||
| 11 Him that dies of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dies in the field shall the flying creatures of the heavens eat; for IAUA has spoken it. | IE AMTh LIRBOM BOIR IEKLU AKLBIM UAMTh BShDA IEKLU OUF AShMIM KI IAUA DBR | יא המת לירבעם בעיר יאכלו הכלבים והמת בשדה יאכלו עוף השמים כי יהוה דבר | ||
| 12 Arise you therefore, get you to your house; and when your feet enter into the city, the child shall die. | IB UETh QUMI LKI LBIThK BBEA RGLIK AOIRA UMTh AILD | יב ואת קומי לכי לביתך בבאה רגליך העירה ומת הילד | ||
| 13 All Israel shall make lamentation for him, and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave; because in him there is found some good thing toward IAUA, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam. | IG USFDU-LU KL-IShREL UQBRU EThU KI-ZA LBDU IBE LIRBOM EL-QBR ION NMTsE-BU DBR TUB EL-IAUA ELAI IShREL BBITh IRBOM | יג וספדו-לו כל-ישראל וקברו אתו כי-זה לבדו יבא לירבעם אל-קבר יען נמצא-בו דבר טוב אל-יהוה אלהי ישראל בבית ירבעם | ||
| 14 Moreover IAUA will raise Him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day. But what is it even then? | ID UAQIM IAUA LU MLK OL-IShREL EShR IKRITh ETh-BITh IRBOM ZA AIUM UMA GM-OThA | יד והקים יהוה לו מלך על-ישראל אשר יכרית את-בית ירבעם זה היום ומה גם-עתה | ||
| 15 for IAUA will smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and He will root up Israel out of this good land, which He gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River; because they have made their Asherim, provoking IAUA. | TU UAKA IAUA ETh-IShREL KEShR INUD AQNA BMIM UNThSh ETh-IShREL MOL AEDMA ATUBA AZETh EShR NThN LEBUThIAM UZRM MOBR LNAR ION EShR OShU ETh-EShRIAM MKOISIM ETh-IAUA | טו והכה יהוה את-ישראל כאשר ינוד הקנה במים ונתש את-ישראל מעל האדמה הטובה הזאת אשר נתן לאבותיהם וזרם מעבר לנהר יען אשר עשו את-אשריהם מכעיסים את-יהוה | ||
| 16 He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and wherewith he has made Israel to sin.' | TZ UIThN ETh-IShREL BGLL ChTEUTh IRBOM EShR ChTE UEShR AChTIE ETh-IShREL | טז ויתן את-ישראל בגלל חטאות ירבעם אשר חטא ואשר החטיא את-ישראל | ||
| 17 Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah; and as she came to the threshold of the house, the child died. | IZ UThQM EShTh IRBOM UThLK UThBE ThRTsThA AIE BEA BSF-ABITh UANOR MTh | יז ותקם אשת ירבעם ותלך ותבא תרצתה היא באה בסף-הבית והנער מת | ||
| 18 All Israel buried him, and made lamentation for him; according to the word of IAUA, which He spoke by the hand of His servant Ahijah the prophet. | ICh UIQBRU EThU UISFDU-LU KL-IShREL KDBR IAUA EShR DBR BID-OBDU EChIAU ANBIE | יח ויקברו אתו ויספדו-לו כל-ישראל כדבר יהוה אשר דבר ביד-עבדו אחיהו הנביא | ||
| 19 The rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel. | IT UIThR DBRI IRBOM EShR NLChM UEShR MLK ANM KThUBIM OL-SFR DBRI AIMIM LMLKI IShREL | יט ויתר דברי ירבעם אשר נלחם ואשר מלך הנם כתובים על-ספר דברי הימים למלכי ישראל | ||
| 20 The days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years; and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead. | K UAIMIM EShR MLK IRBOM OShRIM UShThIM ShNA UIShKB OM-EBThIU UIMLK NDB BNU ThChThIU | כ והימים אשר מלך ירבעם עשרים ושתים שנה וישכב עם-אבתיו וימלך נדב בנו תחתיו | ||
| 21 Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which IAUA had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there; and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess. | KE URChBOM BN-ShLMA MLK BIAUDA BN-ERBOIM UEChTh ShNA RChBOM BMLKU UShBO OShRA ShNA MLK BIRUShLM AOIR EShR-BChR IAUA LShUM ETh-ShMU ShM MKL ShBTI IShREL UShM EMU NOMA AOMNITh | כא ורחבעם בן-שלמה מלך ביהודה בן-ארבעים ואחת שנה רחבעם במלכו ושבע עשרה שנה מלך בירושלם העיר אשר-בחר יהוה לשום את-שמו שם מכל שבטי ישראל ושם אמו נעמה העמנית | ||
| 22 Judah did that which was evil in the sight of IAUA; and they moved Him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done. | KB UIOSh IAUDA ARO BOINI IAUA UIQNEU EThU MKL EShR OShU EBThM BChTEThM EShR ChTEU | כב ויעש יהודה הרע בעיני יהוה ויקנאו אתו מכל אשר עשו אבתם בחטאתם אשר חטאו | ||
| 23 For they also built them high places, and pillars, and Asherim, on every high hill, and under every leafy tree; | KG UIBNU GM-AMA LAM BMUTh UMTsBUTh UEShRIM OL KL-GBOA GBAA UThChTh KL-OTs RONN | כג ויבנו גם-המה להם במות ומצבות ואשרים על כל-גבעה גבהה ותחת כל-עץ רענן | ||
| 24 and there were also sodomites in the land; they did according to all the abominations of the nations which IAUA drove out before the children of Israel. | KD UGM-QDSh AIA BERTs OShU KKL AThUOBTh AGUIM EShR AURISh IAUA MFNI BNI IShREL | כד וגם-קדש היה בארץ עשו ככל התועבת הגוים אשר הוריש יהוה מפני בני ישראל | ||
| 25 It came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem; | KA UIAI BShNA AChMIShITh LMLK RChBOM OLA ShUShQ (ShIShQ) MLK-MTsRIM OL-IRUShLM | כה ויהי בשנה החמישית למלך רחבעם עלה שושק (שישק) מלך-מצרים על-ירושלם | ||
| 26 and he took away the treasures of the house of IAUA, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all; and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made. | KU UIQCh ETh-ETsRUTh BITh-IAUA UETh-EUTsRUTh BITh AMLK UETh-AKL LQCh UIQCh ETh-KL-MGNI AZAB EShR OShA ShLMA | כו ויקח את-אצרות בית-יהוה ואת-אוצרות בית המלך ואת-הכל לקח ויקח את-כל-מגני הזהב אשר עשה שלמה | ||
| 27 King Rehoboam made in their stead shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house. | KZ UIOSh AMLK RChBOM ThChThM MGNI NChShTh UAFQID OL-ID ShRI ARTsIM AShMRIM FThCh BITh AMLK | כז ויעש המלך רחבעם תחתם מגני נחשת והפקיד על-יד שרי הרצים השמרים פתח בית המלך | ||
| 28 It was so, that as oft as the king went into the house of IAUA, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard-chamber. | KCh UIAI MDI-BE AMLK BITh IAUA IShEUM ARTsIM UAShIBUM EL-ThE ARTsIM | כח ויהי מדי-בא המלך בית יהוה ישאום הרצים והשיבום אל-תא הרצים | ||

| 31 Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.
